The race for the 1982 "Northeast Ohio Lambda Awards" is on and judging by
our readers reaction this promises to be one of the most exciting and interesting competitions ever. Hundreds of nominating petitions have been received by ACTION MAGAZINE and are now being tabulated by our accountants.
When all the nominating petitions are counted, official ballots will be
printed and distributed to local gay businesses. Then you, the readers, will have the opportunity to vote for your favorite candidates during the week ending July 18. These ballets will then be counted, and the winners will be announced at an awards coremony to be held on Thursday, July 29 at 10pm, at Exedra, 1762 East 18 St.
Imagine, what an evening!! What an event!! The "Who's Who" of Northeast Ohio's gay community gathered under one roof to receive the recognition that you, their patrons and friends, will have voted to bestow upon them. So be sure and vote so that your favorite nominees may win, and above all attend the awards corononies to cheer on and congratulate the winners.
David Barczak, director of the Broadway Country Club and bartender at the 620, has been selected to on-ce the event this year, while various local celebrities will be awards presenters for the coromonies. An entire vall, separating the dance zoon from the hain bar area, will be torn down in order to give everyone an excellent view of the proceedings.
The winners in each of the 18 catogories will receive a plaque from ACTION MAGAZINE. Also top recognition will be given to each recipient in the August issue of ACTION. This year's catego ries include: Best Bartender (male and female); Manager Of The Year; Woman of The Year: Man Of The Year; Entertainer Of The Year; Businessperson Of The Ye Best 03; Bost Show: Bar Of The Year; Non Profit Organization; Best New Bar Health Club Of The Year; Disco Of The Year: Bost Leather Clubs Best Prono or The Year; and Business Of The Year.

LORAIN IN ACTION
Great new things are happening in the City of Lorain! In the first six months of 82, two now bars have opened. THE BAR, 2933 Grove Ave. is an up-andcoming facility with a mixed crowd of men and women. The Disco sound system is a recent addition and a restaurant is in the planning stages. Angle and Ca 1 are co-owners of The Bar. NORTHPORT LOUNGE, 1464 Broadway, has a relaxed, low-key, atmosphere for drink dence and conversation. The neutical motif is uniquely carried into the new dance area. A restaurant, patio, and Sunday brunches are planned. Good luck to Dave, Allen, and Russ.
THE LAMBDA BAR, 1052 Broadway, is the daddy of them all. Ounere, Chuck and Danny, have been operating their club for five yeare, now. The bar features dieco nightly and has added a women's bar. Lorain's premiere show bar.
On June 6, The North Coast Bowlers not at The Market Street Exchange for the league's first bowling banquet. Among the numerous awards given out, was the Last Place trophy awarded to David 8. his short acceptance speech consisted of, "Well, at least I was consistent." Sandy B. was presented with an award of appreciation. Butch Nagel was most Improved Bouler, while Paul R received the Century Avard. High Game honors went to Molly K as also did his high sories, along with Bill G. and Ray A. The election of officers yielded those results: PresidentJin B.; Vice Pros. Ray A.; SecretaryFrank P.; and the new Treasurer is Big D.
